The immediate family would like to make the following statements which are based on facts surrounding the findings of the Coroner’s and Police investigations.

Our faith in Jesus Christ is our strength and our staying power through this entire tragedy.  We may never understand the reasons for this but put our faith in God’s love.  Please respect this belief as Jim very much loved his God and maker.

On Memorial Day Monday May 31st Jim was found in his car mortally burned after a severe fire.  Foul play has been ruled out as there was no evidence of any blunt force trauma nor any explosive devices found supporting those theories.  Jim, who for several days had been trying to start his Mercedes Benz which had been not started for over 6 months, was using alcohol with gasoline to clear varnish build-up that had accumulated and caused fuel blockage.  He talked to my Mom and Dad around 11:30 AM and said that he was cleaning up and would be over for lunch-dinner later in the afternoon.  He also emailed me with one of his typical attached emails with a quick note.  He also replied to a request by his grandson to be a friend on Facebook.  He spoke to others in the morning and was excited about his daughter who was pregnant for her first child in August and the upcoming visit by his grandson in July.  He had finally got the vehicle to run and had taken the car out for a drive.  He placed all of the fuel containers in the front seat of his other vehicle the 95 Ford T-Bird.  Upon his return to the underground parking structure where he lived this is what we believe based on evidence at the scene happened.  Jim arrived and got out of the MB.  His cell phone and cigarette lighter where inside the T-Bird on the passenger seat.  We are still waiting to verify if there might have been a telephone call however for some reason Jim got into the front Drivers Seat of the T-Bird.  We believe this to have been in haste as one of his deck shoes had fallen off and were on the ground next to the Driver’s door.  He had picked up one of containers of gasoline that was open and full and had it in the grasp of his left hand.  The doors on the 95 T-Bird are heavy and it closed something that even I have experienced with this car as it had been in our family for many years previously owned by my parents.  The car was filled with fumes from the containers of alcohol and gasoline as it was a warm day.  Jimmy next reached across with his right hand to answer the phone?  In this attempt he possibly rolled his hand across the lighter which caused the explosion.  His right hand was found on top of the lighter.  An o-s__t moment, a horrible accident.

This is all logical and falls within the findings of the investigation to this point.  Thank you for all of your support in this horrible tragedy,Jim is dead only in body, his spirit and mind lives on and we will all see him one day…Amen
