Robert Hoff (1969)

Wow.  I am so sad to hear that Pam has passed away.  I didn't really know her -at- high school.  I don’t recall a single class we had together.  We didn’t car pool or have the same circle of friends.  But, we grew up as neighbors and she was wonderful!  Always friendly, always smiling, understanding and happy to help out the brat next door.  :-)  

The last time I saw Pam was in the 2000s.  Coincidentally a long time high school friend and I were waiting for an order of Chinese take-out.  When I sat down, Pam was waiting at the table next to us.  I hadn’t seen her for years.  She mentioned she was a grandmother.  She talked a bit about how proud she was of her family and that she was visiting her mom.  We had only few minutes to talk.  I wish we had kept in contact.  

In my late 20s, a wealthy client in his 70s shared something that changed my life.  He said for all the money he had, he could not buy even one more day of his life when he was my age. But, that he gladly would if he could. I realized that most of us don't ask what our "older self" would want us to do today.  We waste far too many of our very precious days.  I’m consoled in knowing Pam knew the value of her days.
