William Heining - Class Of 1970 VIEW PROFILE

Will Heining passed away peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday evening August 11th 2015. A celebration of his life is being planned in Southern California and his family will announce the date to all once plans are firm.

Will's brother Treb wrote:

Will and Treb Heining
We grew up together at 11762 Stephanie Lane Garden Grove, California
Will was a year and a half older than me and it was just the two of us for many years before Tria, Whitman and Stacy came along
We shared the same room, fought, played and learned together
Will was always the first and I followed him in most things: bike riding, roller skating, ice skating, playing trumpet, marching band...
My way was always a little easier having been paved by a big brother who was extremely popular, fun, smart and always looked out for me
Our time we shared together in high school band remains one of the highlights of my life and it was never the same once he graduated
We were not without controversy during our lives but remained close with strong family bonds that brought wisdom far beyond anything found on a computer
On Tuesday evening, Will left us all to continue his journey in another life
I will miss him so much but look forward to the time when we are together again...

I am so saddened to hear of Wiil's passing.  After graduating from GGHS, both Will and I attended USC, participating not only in marching band, but spending countless hours hanging out with a group of friends after dinner in the dining hall.  We were frequently the last to leave, playing Twenty Questions, Boticelli and other fun games together.  This is where I really got to know Will, and found him to be exactly as Treb so eloquently described him in his comments.

Our friendship continued over the years, with Will even stopping in to visit us after we moved to North Carolina. Opportunities to connect became more frequent as his son, Greg, and my daughter, Annelise, both attended USC and both became members of the Trojan marching band. Coincidentally, I was just talking about these relationships on Wednesday with my family as we gathered in the NC Outer Banks for a vacation. Will and I would almost always get a chance to connect when I made my yearly Fall trip to a USC football game.  I'm sad that will not be the case this year.

Lastly, as my birthday draws near, I will be missing the call I would normally have received from Will . . . he chose to go above and beyond the standard Facebook post in wishing me a Happy Birthday.  I will miss that.  I already miss Will.

My condolences got out to all the family.

I am sorry to hear of Will's passing.  We go back to 3rd grade, probably second, at Fayelane Elementary.  He was good -natured and hard-working, and had time for silliness.  He will be missed.

My condolences and prayers to his family.  I remember seeing him at one of the picnics at GGHS and he looked quite well and happy with a beautiful family.

Aloha Friends and Family of Will,

I was SHOCKED to hear about Will's passing. I barely knew Will but I DO remember him as a larger-than-life member of the GGHS Community so many years ago. We reconnected on Facebook, as so many have had the fortune to do, and I was able to follow his life even more than 40 years later. MUCH Aloha to you, his Ohana!!!!

With Aloha from my heart!!! ~ ~ ~
